Recipe for a Healthy Lawry’s Seasoning Salt Alternative
I put Lawry’s Seasoning Salt on everything, from avocado toast to dinner skillets. But if you do your research, it’s heavy in sugar, which leads to so much of our deadly modern disease. It’s also rich in corn starch, which is nutritionally sparse, high in calories, and disadvantageous for those looking to regulate blood pressure and cholesterol.
My quest was to concoct a seasoning you can top everything with this summer, just as addictive as Lawry’s, but without the bad stuff. I was elated when I tweaked a near-perfect mimic of the seasoning this week! My kids even ask for it. Here is the easy, 5 minute recipe.
- 1/3 cup Himalayan sea salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp celery salt
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp tumeric
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Dash of cayenne pepper, to taste
We use this seasoning salt with coconut oil popcorn, olive oil popcorn, grilled corn on the cob, charred cauliflower, avocado toast with hemp hearts and nutritional yeast, and arugula salad. My kids like it on melted cheese sticks with rice crackers, and as the finishing touch to frittatas. Enjoy it on your own creations and have a great summer all!
